The Activist Toolkit offers guidance on several advocacy tools and tactics, along with contact information and links to reach decision-makers in the Greater Des Moines Area. It also provides information about local advocacy organizations and mutual-aid groups. The toolkit is not comprehensive, but is a good place to start for anyone looking to amplify their voice and take a stand on issues you are passionate about.
Know Your Rights Card
You can either download your own Know Your Rights Red Card to print out, or order them online. (https://www.ilrc.org/redcards) Red cards are available in a variety of languages to meet the needs in your community.

Responder Safety &
De-Escalation Tips
The Responder Safety & De-Escalation Tips sheet provides a recommended packing list to make your own emergency kit in case of exposure to chemical agents or other escalation of force by ICE. It also reviews tips for preparation and de-escalation aimed to keep you safe in your role as a responder.

Food rescue & meal prep for community fridges, supply drives for mutual aid

Know Your Rights trainings, advocacy, immigrant defense coordination

Financial and supply drives for mutual aid assistance

Community Response trainings & meetings, Situational Awareness team, community outreach & whistle kit distribution, rally/visibility events, medic team

Van rides to visit detainees and prisoners, food resources and other programming
